WHO ARE WE

Specialising in all aspects of body waxing, Joanne and Ava have a combined 25 years worth of experience, both training in one of Scotland’s most influential waxing salons.

Together we wanted to take our skills to a fresh new environment, and Eleven Eleven was born! To us, Eleven Eleven symbolises transformation, positive thoughts and new beginnings - we cannot wait to welcome you to our home!

FAQs

What kind of wax do you use?

On sensitive areas like the face, underarms, nipples and intimate we will use hot wax. Hot wax shrink wraps itself around the hair before setting to ensure a clean removal with minimal discomfort to those sensitive areas. For quickness and effectiveness, we use strip wax on the arms, legs and torso.

How long does my hair need to be?

The length of a grain of rice! How long is a grain of rice? No one really knows... But what we do know is that you should grow your hair out for 4-6 weeks from your last wax/shave/hair removal.

What can I expect at my intimate waxing appointment?

First and foremost we will always double check that what you're booked in for is exactly what you want done. There will be an intimate wipe on the bed for you to freshen up and a cover for your modesty. We will ask you to assume a few positions during your wax - nothing too strenuous - and before you know it, you'll be done. You can also expect lots of chat and maybe a few laughs too.

I'm having intimate waxing done, do I need to take my pants off?

Yes is the simple answer. We understand you might feel a bit uncomfortable at first, but it's genuinely the quickest, easiest way to get your waxing done.

Is it going to be sore?

Maybe a wee bit! Put it this way - we will be removing the hair straight from the follicle, so you will feel it. However, the general consensus with clients is that it's never as bad as what they thought it was going to be.

I'm a bit embarrassed, am I the hairiest person you've ever seen?

No, honestly. We know that it's an incredibly vulnerable thing to get intimate waxing done, we just want you to feel comfortable. We aren't concentrating on how your body looks, how hairy you are, if you have odd socks on - we just want to give you the best possible treatment we can!

Can I get waxed on my period?

Yes! If you're able to wear a tampon/moon cup then pop a fresh one in right before your treatment. Unfortunately if you can't use a tampon or moon cup then we politely ask that you reschedule your appointment.

Can I get waxed while I'm pregnant?

Yes! Waxing is completely safe during all 3 trimesters of pregnancy. You may feel slightly sensitive, but rest assured you are in safe hands. Postpartum, wait for your 6 week check up with a midwife before booking your wax. Also! Advice for c-section mamas - we can wax you after 6 weeks post birth, however we will not be able to wax over any scar tissue for 6 months.

I'm going on holiday, when is best to get waxed?

For best results we would always recommend 24-48 hours before your holiday. This way your skin has time to calm after your waxing treatment. We want to remind you that your skin may be more sensitive to heat & sun after your wax. So please try to avoid direct sun exposure for 24-48 hours after your wax. And always wear SPF!

I am trans and the treatment I want to book is under a gender that doesn't reflect me, why is this?

Although we have tried to keep our price list & treatment list as gender neutral as possible, we need to price & time intimate waxing differently. Those with male anatomy will be asked to assume a few different positions during the wax than those with female anatomy. Also those with male hormone make up tend to have a thicker hair growth so we will use more product. This will affect the timing & the price of your treatment. Eleven Eleven is an inclusive safe space, we will always respect your pronouns.

HOW TO GET HERE

Waterloo Chambers is located at 19 Waterloo Street. We are between the pubs Kitty O’Shea’s and the Roderick Du. We are a two minute walk from Central Station via the Hope Street entrance and about a 7 minute walk away from Queen Street Station. There is on-street parking near the salon.

ABOUT WATERLOO CHAMBERS

The Waterloo Chambers is an old sandstone building repurposed to accommodate offices and small businesses. There is a stair lift for those who use wheelchairs or have a pram with them at the main entrance.

From the main reception area, there is a lift that can access all floors. For safety and security, we use a buzzer system. When you arrive at the Chambers, you will see a silver buzzer system. Press the ‘up’ button, then the green ‘bell’ button when you see ‘1111waxing’.

We will be able to let you in from the salon. After 5pm on weekdays and every Saturday, the front gate will be locked, so you will need to use the buzzer system located at the gate. Female toilets are located on floors 1 and 3. Male toilets are on floors 2 and 4.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We kindly ask that you give us 24-48 hours notice of cancellation. Thank you.

ETIQUETTE

Our salon is child-friendly! There is enough room in our treatment rooms for prams, and a seating area away from the treatment bed and wax pots where your wee one can wait. They are also more than welcome to quietly wait in the main reception area, however they would not be supervised. Although children are welcome, we want to remind parents that our priority is to provide a professional and relaxed space for all our clients. We ask that those who bring their children along with them pack items to keep them quietly entertained.

This is a professional waxing service. Untoward and inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.

THE BUILDING

Waterloo Chambers is manned by a concierge & is fully accessible during business hours. If your appointment is after business hours or on a Saturday you may find the front gate is locked due to security reasons.
